Algeria: President Tebboune launches the 31st edition of the Algerian Production Fair

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune graced the 31st edition of the Algerian Production Fair on Thursday, December 14, 2023, with over 580 exhibitors participating.

After a briefing by Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, on the sectors and companies involved, as well as the production and export capacities of national public and private companies across various fields, and the preliminary results of the national product census, President Tebboune called for the registration of companies and sectors that adequately meet national needs.

He emphasized the need to grant them licenses for export to Africa, including through barter, suggesting the exchange of goods such as motor oils and livestock.

The President highlighted the significance of exports, prioritizing the coverage of local market needs to prevent imbalances between production and consumption.

He toured stands of leading military-industrial and technological companies, including the Seriana Company of Industrial Achievements (ERIS) specializing in munitions, Central Equipment Directorate, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering and Development Center, Central Logistics Base, and the “Materials Renovation Establishment

President Tebboune underscored the role of the mechanical engineering industry in advancing Algeria’s industrial capabilities, stating that the Algerian industrial landscape is progressing thanks to local operators investing in this sector.

It is worth noting that on the sidelines of the Algerian Production Fair, several meetings involving various economic stakeholders and addressing numerous issues are scheduled.

These include a study day on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), to be organized on December 16 by the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion, a meeting on the theme “Project Organization: Challenges and Opportunities,” and a session on new support mechanisms for export-oriented companies on December 17.
