President Tebboune announces major support measures for the national media

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune unveiled a set of measures on Sunday in Algiers aimed at supporting national media. It was during the presentation of the President of the Republic’s Award for Professional Journalists (9th edition) at the «Abdelatif Rahal» International Conference Center. This ceremony was part of the National Press Day.

In his speech, read by the Minister of Communication, Mohamed Laagab, the president announced several indirect support initiatives for the media, including a reduction in the subscription price for the Algeria Press Service (APS) news feed for national media.

Additionally, there will be a decrease in the Value Added Tax (VAT) with specific rates and measures to be defined in the supplementary budget.

Among other measures, there is a reduction in the cost of hosting electronic sites with Algeria Telecom (AT), including a 33 to 36% reduction, an increase in capacity, and a decrease in rents at the Press House.

The President also decided to name sports journalists at press centers in stadiums, reduce airfare rates on Air Algeria for sports journalists covering African competitions, and instructed the Minister of Communication and the Presidential Communication Directorate to conduct a study for the revival of the press aid fund and develop a plan to organize the advertising market.

Furthermore, the President tasked the Minister of Communication with finding a permanent solution to security housing in Sidi Fredj.
