Africa: Coup d’état in Gabon, France’s interests put forward

General Oligui Nguema, France’s protégé in Gabon, claims to want to strengthen relations with France. He is said to have given France guarantees regarding its interests.

General Oligui’s statements have been confirmed by France’s reaction. France felt it had received the economic and security guarantees it needed to protect its interests in Gabon.

He  has had several meetings with French diplomatic representatives in Libreville, and has also travelled to France to receive instructions from his godfather.

Less than a week after the coup d’état, which is a French plot, General Oligui Nguema is already showing that he belongs to the clan of dictators.

The new strongest man of Gabon insisted on his desire to continue his partnership with France, pointing out that it was the deposed president who had turned his back on France.

The African community needs to know that France is only fighting for its own interests. President Macron said as much in his speeches to diplomats.

France, seeing its interests blocked, has hatched a plot to overthrow President Ali Bongo and bring up its ally.

At the rate General Oligui is going, the Central African community fears destabilisation.
