Athletic Club dominates Atlético Madrid to secure Copa del Rey Final berth with 3-0 victory

Athletic Club secured a resounding 3-0 victory over Atlético Madrid in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao. Following a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, Atlético had the daunting task of overturning the result to reach the final, but the Basque side continued their positive momentum from the previous match.

Inaki Williams opened the scoring with a spectacular volley after a cross from Nico Williams. Just before halftime, Nico Williams turned goalscorer, doubling the lead with assistance from Inaki Williams.

In the second half, Atlético failed to find a solution, and Athletic Club extended their lead with a third goal by Gorka Guruzeta.

With this result, Athletic Club advances to the Copa del Rey final, where they will face Majorca, who secured a spot by defeating Real Sociedad in a penalty shootout. The final is scheduled for April 6.

Athletic Club’s impressive victory over Atlético Madrid marked the 183rd meeting between the two teams since 1929.
