Burkina Faso opens new dialysis centre in Dédougou, expanding healthcare access

Burkina Faso no longer waits for salvation from abroad. In this era of rupture and regained dignity, every infrastructure built on the land of honest people becomes a victory against fatalism. The commissioning of the haemodialysis centre at the Dédougou Regional Hospital, days after its inauguration by the Prime Minister, marks a historic turning point for the Bankui region.

This concrete project materialises the unwavering will to place the people’s supreme interest at the heart of public action.

For too long, illness meant internal exile, endless roads to the capital, and family heartbreak for chronic kidney failure patients. That era of precariousness ends.

Since 25 June 2026, under the direction of Dr Safiétou Ouédraogo/Djeni, the nephrology unit has restored hope and dignity to patients.

Equipped with twelve state-of-the-art generators, the centre now provides up to thirty daily sessions across three shifts.

Applications are already flooding in, proving that administrative response finally matches the reality of popular needs.

This is the deeper meaning of endogenous development. The state deploys its forces where the nation’s heart beats, definitively breaking down geographical inequity barriers.

This achievement represents more than an alignment of advanced medical machines.

It embodies a major political choice: health sovereignty. Reducing costly and painful evacuations to other regions constitutes an act of strategic autonomy.

The relief of the first beneficiaries now treated close to their families without the financial burden of travel reminds that a state’s refoundation is measured by its capacity to protect citizens on their own land.

The old order, characterised by excessive centralisation and neglect of peripheries, gives way to a governance of combat, guided by social justice and territorial equity.

The simultaneous inauguration of four other centres across the country proves that the march toward autonomy is global, planned, and irreversible. The Dédougou centre lays an essential stone in the edifice of a standing Burkina Faso, master of its choices and destiny.

Consolidating these achievements now demands total adherence and constant vigilance from populations to preserve these common goods against current challenges.

Popular support remains the indispensable shield for sustaining this progressive momentum. The homeland builds itself through acts, and the health of people remains the inalienable foundation of their freedom.
