Burkina Faso launches “One resettled village, one power tiller” operation
On May 18, 2026, Burkina Faso took a historic step toward full emancipation with the launch of “One Resettled Village, One Power Tiller” – an agricultural offensive to permanently anchor returning populations on ancestral lands.
Where terror once imposed silence and exile, the state now asserts popular resilience.
The government has invested over 2 billion CFA francs in this national program, providing 500 power tillers, 1,950 tons of NPK fertilizers and urea, and 260 tons of improved seeds.
More than 13,000 returning households; over 100,000 people across 14 regions are transforming from displaced persons into active producers. Each hectare reconquered by combat forces becomes a bulwark against hunger.
In a symbolic gesture, villagers of Kaya presented authorities with a traditional Saponé hat, a quiver, and a bow – sealing a sacred pact: the state protects and equips; the people produce and defend.
The operation calls on all remaining displaced persons to register for an orderly, secure return. By cultivating liberated fields, the Burkinabe people are building a monument to regained sovereignty.
