Togo: The doors of the Africa SME Champions Forum open in Lomé with the signing of an agreement to support SMEs

The Africa SME Champions Forum, the first forum dedicated to supporting the growth of African SMEs, has opened its doors in Lomé, the Togolese capital. Launched on 05 October 2023, the experts are bringing new practical and operational solutions to the financing and growth challenges facing SMEs in Africa.

The conference was opened by the head of the Togolese government, H.E. Mrs Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé.

The head of government welcomed the fact that the meeting was being held in Lomé, at a time when the Togolese capital is working hard to position itself as a hub for sub-regional financial activities.

«We often admire the major global players in logistics, industry, agri-food, the environment and digital services. But we have to remember that these multinationals were once small and medium-sized businesses with just a few people, sometimes from the same family, with few resources, but with a great deal of innovation and determination to succeed», H.E. Mrs Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé, at the opening of the various sessions.

The theme of the Africa SME Champions Forum is «consolidating the growth of SMEs», and this theme was explored by the various authorities present at this major forum.

The Africa SME Champions Forum opened with the signing of a support agreement with the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa for Togolese SMEs.

The total value of the agreement is CFAF 10 billion, plus CFAF 200 million for support.
