Togo: The country receives $60 million in financial support from the IDB to bolster its agricultural sector

Togo has recently secured a major financial boost aimed at strengthening its agricultural sector. The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has granted the country a funding package worth $60 million, equivalent to over 36 billion CFA francs.

This investment is designed to support Togo’s agricultural initiatives, a critical pillar of the national economy.

The funds will be used to launch projects that not only enhance agricultural productivity but also bolster food security and help farmers transition to more sustainable and resilient farming practices.

Agriculture, which employs a significant portion of Togo’s workforce, is central to President Faure Gnassingbé’s efforts to drive economic growth and reduce poverty in rural areas.

By focusing on agricultural infrastructure, farmer training, and technological innovations, this financial injection is expected to modernize the sector and improve the livelihoods of rural communities.

Additionally, the IDB’s financial support aligns with Togo’s broader strategy to diversify its economy and promote local agricultural processing.

This endorsement from the Islamic Development Bank also highlights the confidence of international partners in Togo’s stability and development initiatives, led by President Faure Gnassingbé, aimed at building a more inclusive and sustainable economy for the future.
