Burkina Faso: the President of the Transition congratulates the cadet Stallions for their achievement during the AFCON U-17, and expresses his commitment to the promotion of sports

The cadet Stallions are back in their homeland, Burkina Faso. The President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traore, received them on this Monday afternoon in an audience upon their return from the 15th edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). That sportive event took place in Algeria from April 29 to May 19, 2023.

The delegation included the bronze medalists of the competition, their technical staff, the president of the Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF), and the Minister of Sports.

The Head of State praised the journey of the Junior Stallions, who managed to qualify for the World Cup and secure the third place at the U17 CAN.

Captain Ibrahim Traore congratulated the Junior Stallions for their performance and expressed his pride in the impact of their victory on the morale of the Burkinabe people during this challenging period for the country.

The captain of the cadet Stallions, Chabane CAMARA, dedicated this bronze medal to the Defense and Security Forces, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland, and the entire Burkinabe population who supported them during the competition.

The Junior Stallions also presented one million CFA francs to the Head of State for peace efforts. They emphasized that throughout their journey in the U17 AFCON, they always had their country in mind.

The coach of the Junior Stallions, Brahima TRAORE, highlighted that his team deserved to win the cup, considering the individual trophies won by his players.

 The tournament’s best player is Burkinabe, three cadet Stallions are included in the tournament’s dream team, and three times the man of the match was Burkinabe.

The President of the Burkinabe Football Federation, Lazare BANSSE, commended the highest authorities of the country for their attention and resources they mobilized to ensure that the young Stallions could attend the tournament under favorable conditions.

He also emphasized that it was the first time a junior category received such attention and resources to attend the CAN.

The President of the Transition expressed his commitment to the promotion of sports and announced that the rehabilitation of the 4-August Stadium and other stadiums built as part of the December 11 celebrations in several regions should be expedited.

The Minister of Sports was instructed to take charge of these matters in order to provide athletes with infrastructure that meets their expectations.

Overall, this audience was an opportunity for the Head of State to applaud the cadet Stallions for their performance at the U17 CAN and reaffirm his commitment to the promotion of sports, particularly football.
