Niger: Airspace open, but closed with countries in favour of military intervention

After being closed for almost a month, Niger’s airspace has been reopened once again.  The news was made public on Monday 4 September 2023. The closure was imposed on August 6th in response to the threat of intervention from neighboring countries.

The CNSP authorities have decided to open up  niger’s airspace. On the other hand, the land borders remain closed with countries that are in favour of military intervention.

They are open with Algeria, Burkina Faso, Libya, Mali and Chad.

The presence of the French ambassador in Niamey continues to be at the heart of the news.

A few days ago, the new authorities announced that the police had already been instructed to expel him from the country.

His immunity has been withdrawn. The CNSP authorities have denounced this unacceptable act of contempt.

French forces are in an illegal position on Nigerien territory. The CNSP has denounced the security and defence cooperation agreements between France and Niger.

Procedures are underway to enable the French soldiers to leave Niger quickly.

In Niger, all measures have been taken to ensure the country’s defence. The people of Niger are not giving up on their support for the CNSP.
