Mali: President Assimi Goïta imposes a moratorium on political activities

In Mali on Wednesday, April 10, the Transitional President, Colonel Assimi Goïta, issued a ban on «all activities of political parties and civil associations until further notice», as announced in a statement from the Malian junta. According to Malian authorities, this measure is a response to subversive actions perpetrated by certain political parties and their allies

This decision, made by decree and co-signed by Prime Minister Choguel Kokalla Maïga and several government members, aims to preserve public order and security in the country.

Indeed, this decision comes at a time when Mali is striving to stabilize its security situation under the leadership of Colonel Assimi Goïta.

It is crucial to understand that, in this transitional climate, holding elections is not the primary focus for the Malian people.

On the contrary, the emphasis is on consolidating peace and security throughout the country.

Securing the territory is essential to enable every citizen, wherever they are in Mali, to participate in democratic elections in a safe environment.

It is essential for all stakeholders, including the Malian population, to support efforts aimed at ensuring a peaceful and prosperous future for the country.
