Mali: President Assimi GOÏTA exchanges views with three new Malian ambassadors abroad

The transitional president, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, held an audience on Monday, January 22, 2024, with three new ambassadors from Mali who are beginning their missions abroad. These ambassadors are assigned to Germany, Ethiopia, and Morocco.

Before assuming their respective posts, the three new diplomats expressed their gratitude to the Transition President for the trust he placed in them.

They also sought his guidance and support to strengthen relations between Mali and these countries.

Cheick Mahamadou Cherif KEÏTA, the new ambassador of Mali to Germany with residence in Berlin, explained that his mission involves enhancing cooperation between Mali and the Federal Republic of Germany, the first foreign country to recognize Mali’s independence.

In Addis Ababa, the Malian representation is now led by Mr. Amadou DIALLO. His mission spans six countries, namely Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti, Somalia, and Uganda.

According to the new ambassador of Mali to Addis Ababa, efforts will be directed towards strengthening cooperation with these countries and international organizations to consolidate Mali’s openness to the world.

The mission of the third ambassador, Mali’s ambassador to Morocco, Mr. Fafre CAMARA, will focus on promoting dynamic relations between Mali and the Kingdom of Morocco.

The latter emphasized the urgency of resuming the Mali-Morocco joint commission, which has been suspended for some time.

The Head of State urged the new ambassadors to be the voices of Mali in decision-making, following the three principles that now guide the country: respect for national sovereignty, respect for strategic choices, and the choice of partners made by Mali.
