Mali: Cooperation under new guidelines from the country’s authorities

When the new authorities of Mali came to power, they developed new cooperation frameworks, in line with the principles that guide the actions of the State. These are the bases on which new partnerships are forged or existing ones strengthened.

These principles include respect for the sovereignty of the country, respect for the strategic choices and choice of partners made by Mali, and the defence of the vital interests of the Malian people in the decisions taken.

Bilateral cooperation between Mali and the Kingdom of the Netherlands is also part of this dynamic.

The new Dutch diplomat, H.E. Ms Caecilia WIJGERS, was reminded of these principles, which underpin the actions of the Malian authorities.

This was during her meeting in Bamako on Monday 27 November with the head of Malian diplomacy, H.E. Mr Abdoulaye DIOP, for the presentation of the figurative copies of her letters of credence.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss national priorities and the vital interests of the people of Mali, including humanitarian assistance, the provision of basic social services and sustainable development.

The Dutch diplomat indicated that exchanges and political dialogue will be at the heart of her diplomatic agenda to support the Malian government in its efforts to meet the priority needs of the people, including the success of the political process.
