Maguire accepts apology: Ghanaian MP’s Banter Resolved on and off the Pitch
Manchester United player Harry Maguire has graciously accepted an apology from Ghanaian MP Isaac Adongo, who had previously mocked him during a budget debate. In response to the apology, Maguire, on X (formerly Twitter), wrote, “See you at Old Trafford soon”.
The controversy arose last year when Adongo compared Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia’s economic management to
Maguire’s on-field performances. However, on Tuesday, Adongo took the opportunity to correct the record and praised Maguire as a “transformational footballer” and a “key player” for Manchester United.
While expressing his admiration for Maguire, Adongo continued to criticize Vice-President Bawumia, stating, «As for our Maguire, he is now at the IMF, with a cup in hand».
Despite the apology, the MP did not relent in his scrutiny of Bawumia’s economic policies.
