Luis Suarez set to join Inter Miami in MLS: A footballing reunion with Lionel Messi

Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, former player for FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, is gearing up to join Major League Soccer (MLS) with Inter Miami, where his close friend Lionel Messi also plays.

Following Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba’s ventures into the MLS, Luis  Suarez is the latest to make the leap to this league.

The 36-year-old forward, currently under contract with Gremio (Brazil) until the end of the year, has bid farewell to the fans.

Reports from The Athletic and the Miami Herald suggest that Inter Miami has secured Suarez’s signature for a one-year deal at no cost.

Despite Suarez’s concerning health statement about relying on medication and injections to play due to discomfort and pain, he joins Messi, Busquets, and Alba for the upcoming season. Suarez and Messi shared a close friendship during their remarkable collaboration at Barcelona from 2014 to 2020.

Despite ongoing discussions about his physical condition since his move to Brazil, Suarez’s statistics reflect his form, having scored 27 goals in 53 matches across all competitions.

His arrival at Inter Miami not only brings an experienced presence on the field but also a valuable footballing connection with Lionel Messi.
