Guinea / President Mamadi Doumbouya: Building the future of tourism in Guinea

In a bold move aimed at boosting Guinea’s tourism potential and reinforcing its national brand image, the President of the Republic, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, has launched a visionary project: The Recreational lake of Gbassi Kôlô. This ambitious initiative was officially launched on Monday 28 August 2023, when the first stone was laid by the Minister Director of the Office of the President, Mr Djiba Diakité.

The project, which is part of the national branding initiative, aims to promote and regulate leisure activities while bringing significant benefits to the Guinean nation.

The recreational Lake of Gbassi Kôlô represents President Doumbouya’s firm commitment to sustainable development and improving the quality of life of the people of Guinea.

The project, which will cover an area of more than five hectares, is strategically located at the intersection of the Fidel Castro motorway and the road built by ALPORT, providing optimum accessibility for visitors.

The main aim of the project is to create a modern and attractive leisure area for the local population and visitors, while contributing to the regeneration of this previously unregulated and unseen urban area.

As well as improving the quality of life in the Kaloum region, the Gbassi Kôlô Recreational Lake aims to stimulate the local economy by creating numerous employment opportunities for young Guineans.

This project, which combines leisure, economic development and urban regeneration, is a concrete example of the President’s vision for a prosperous, dynamic country that is open to the world.

By investing in tourism, Guinea is positioning itself to become a key destination in West Africa, while strengthening its national identity through national branding.
