Former One Direction Star Liam Payne dies in tragic fall in Argentina

Buenos Aires – Liam Payne, 31, former member of the globally popular boyband One Direction, has tragically died in Buenos Aires after falling from the third floor of a hotel in the upscale Palermo neighbourhood, according to Argentine police.

Emergency services responded to a call late Wednesday night, initially reporting that a man, believed to be Payne, was acting aggressively and might have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Shortly after, police were alerted to a loud noise in the hotel’s courtyard, where they discovered Payne’s body. An investigation into the circumstances of his fall is underway, and an autopsy has been scheduled.

Payne, who rose to fame on the UK’s X Factor in 2010 alongside bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik, had attended Horan’s concert in Argentina just weeks earlier.

Hours before the incident, he posted on social media, saying, “It’s a lovely day here in Argentina.”

Fans have gathered at the hotel to pay their respects, leaving candles and tributes in memory of the singer. Friends and fellow musicians expressed their grief, including Max George from The Wanted, and singer Olly Murs, who described Payne’s death as “devastating.”

Payne had found solo success after One Direction went on hiatus in 2016, with hits like Strip That Down and collaborations such as For You.

He leaves behind a son, Bear, from his relationship with singer Cheryl Tweedy. The UK Foreign Office is in contact with Argentine authorities following Payne’s death.
