Foot/ Mercato: Marco Verratti is joining Al Arabi!

It’s now official. Marco Verratti is truly leaving Paris Saint-Germain and continuing his career in Qatar. The Italian midfielder has signed with Al Arabi.

The agreement, which had been in the air for some time, is now confirmed. After 11 years in Paris, Marco Verratti is leaving the French capital and will now play for Al Arabi.

The transfer fee is €45 million, which could rise to €50 million due to bonuses. This comes as no surprise as Verratti was no longer registered in the Champions League and had not played a minute in Ligue 1 since the start of the season.

PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi paid tribute to Verratti after the official announcement, saying, «Marco will forever be linked to PSG. He played a major role in our great history… I would sincerely like to thank Marco and his family on behalf of everyone associated with PSG. He will always be a part of the Club».

Marco Verratti is leaving Paris Saint-Germain after a relationship that lasted over ten years. During his time, he won several titles, including nine French championships.

Lionel Messi’s reaction to Verratti’s departure

Lionel Messi posted a friendly message for his former teammate on his Instagram account.

To illustrate his message on Instagram, the 2022 World Cup champion chose a photo where both are wearing the jerseys of Argentina and Italy.

«I wish you all the best in your new journey, Marco. You already know that I always wish you the best», wrote Lionel Messi, who played with Verratti for two seasons at PSG.
