Euro 2024/ France: Camavinga cleared for Netherlands clash after injury scare

Eduardo Camavinga can breathe a sigh of relief as concerns over his right ankle have eased, making him available for France’s upcoming match against the Netherlands as part of the ongoing Euro 2024.

After leaving training early on Tuesday due to an ankle scare, medical assessments revealed no serious injury.

Camavinga had to leave the field during a session with the reserve team but was seen discussing with the team doctor, who applied ice to the injury as a precaution.

By Wednesday morning, the Real Madrid midfielder’s condition had improved, allowing him to join the squad for Friday’s game.

Camavinga, who has 17 caps and one goal for France, was substituted in the 71st minute of Monday’s 1-0 win over Austria, replacing Adrien Rabiot.

Though primarily a midfielder, Camavinga has occasionally filled in at left-back, notably during the 2022 World Cup after Lucas Hernandez’s injury.

Despite not being a regular starter under coach Didier Deschamps, Camavinga remains a key squad member.

Acknowledging the stiff competition for midfield positions, the Angola-born player humorously defended his performances, emphasizing his contributions to the national team.
