Erling Haaland and Aitana Bonmati Named UEFA Players of the Year
Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, 23, who played a pivotal role in Manchester City’s historic treble of winning the Cup, League, and Champions League with a total of 52 goals across all competitions, was named the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.
He was chosen over his teammate, Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, and Argentine Lionel Messi.
Spanish midfielder Aitana Bonmati, 25, who won the Champions League with Barcelona and the World Cup with Spain, earning the Best Player award in both competitions, was named the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year.
She beat her compatriot Olga Carmona and Australian Sam Kerr for the title.
