England’s Southgate drops Maguire and Grealish from Euro 2024 squad

On Thursday, June 6, England’s manager Gareth Southgate finalized his squad for Euro 2024, reducing his preliminary roster from 33 players. Notably, Harry Maguire of Manchester United and Jack Grealish of Manchester City were excluded from the final selection.

Harry Maguire, despite being initially included, was left out due to not having recovered sufficiently from his injury. Jack Grealish, a key player for Manchester City and recent Premier League champion, was omitted for tactical reasons, as reported by The Athletic.

This decision means both players will miss the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany, set to take place from June 14 to July 14.

This exclusion comes as a significant disappointment for both Maguire and Grealish, who had hoped to contribute to England’s campaign in the prestigious tournament.
