England secures narrow victory over Serbia in Euro 2024 opener

England began their Euro 2024 campaign with a 1-0 victory against Serbia. Jude Bellingham scored the decisive goal in the 13th minute after heading in a deflected cross from Bukayo Saka.

While the men of Gareth Southgate dominated the first half, Serbia came out stronger in the second half, creating several chances and appealing for a penalty that was not awarded.

Harry Kane’s header was spectacularly saved by Serbian goalkeeper Predrag Rajković, and England managed to hold on to their lead despite Serbia’s late efforts.

This win puts the Three Lions at the top of Group C, followed by Denmark and Slovakia, with Serbia at the bottom.
