Cooperation: Niamey and Lomé strengthen their economic cooperation with the signing of a historic memorandum of understanding

Niamey and Lomé have taken a significant step in strengthening their economic ties by signing a historic memorandum of understanding on Friday, May 31, 2024, in Niamey.

This ceremony, attended by high-ranking government officials from both countries, marks the beginning of a new era of economic cooperation and mutually beneficial partnership.

Togolese Minister of Commerce, Mrs. Kayi Mivedor-Sambiani, and Nigerien Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Seydou Asman, presided over the ceremony alongside Nigerien Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Colonel Elhadj Mahamane Ousman.

This event provided an opportunity for both parties to reaffirm their commitment to the economic development and prosperity of their respective nations.

The memorandum of understanding, signed by Niger’s Minister of Transport and Equipment, Colonel-major Salissou Mahaman Salissou, and Togo’s Minister of Land, Air, and Railway Transport, Affo Atcha Dedji, aims to establish a framework for bilateral economic cooperation and facilitate the transportation of goods between the two countries.

This initiative is an important step towards creating a more dynamic and favorable commercial environment for economic growth in the region.

By focusing on the transportation of goods, the memorandum of understanding seeks to improve the efficiency and fluidity of trade exchanges between Niger and Togo.
