China and 26 African Nations unveil Joint digital cooperation action plan

On Monday, July 29, in Beijing, China, along with 26 African countries, announced a comprehensive action plan designed to accelerate their digital cooperation.

This initiative aims to bolster partnerships in various digital realms, including policy, infrastructure, innovation in digital transformation, security, and the training of at least 1,000 professionals over the next three years.

In recent years, China has signed numerous digital cooperation agreements with African governments.

These agreements have significantly enhanced connectivity between Africa and key regions in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, primarily through the deployment of over 60,000 kilometers of submarine cables by Chinese companies.

These companies have been pivotal in establishing high-speed fiber optic networks, 4G/5G mobile communication systems, and satellite services across Africa.

Their efforts have been crucial in driving the continent’s digital infrastructure forward, facilitating greater connectivity and innovation.
