Burkina Faso: Urging the youth to embrace greater civic-mindedness and patriotism

The current state of Burkina Faso calls upon all its citizens, particularly the youth, to exhibit a sense of respect for the nation. The association «La Jeunesse Solidaire» (LJS) (youth in solidarity) expresses concern over the evident disregard for the state among the youth.

In an effort to address this issue, «La Jeunesse Solidaire» organized a conference on November 25, 2023, in Bobo-Dioulasso, focusing on the role of young people in reclaiming the national territory.

The theme: «How can the integrity, civic-mindedness, and patriotism of young people contribute to the territory’s reconquest? »

The association aims to initiate this discourse as Burkina Faso grapples with a prolonged security and humanitarian crisis, jeopardizing peace and social cohesion.

To combat terrorism and restore the nation’s integrity, authorities are implementing measures, necessitating collective responsibility, particularly from the majority youth population.

In every aspect, success in this battle requires active involvement from young people.

Today, the call is for them to exhibit civic-mindedness and patriotism in their daily conduct.

Understanding that reclaiming the national territory depends on adhering to state directives and avoiding counterproductive actions is essential.

Regrettably, some young individuals engage in derogatory and irrelevant comments on social networks, rather than supporting the Security Defence Forces actively.

It is imperative for young people to comprehend that the ongoing fight led by the defence and security forces serves the national interest and warrants comprehensive public support for eventual victory.
