Burkina-Faso: Towards closer ties between Tehran and Ouagadougou

Burkina-Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran are working to revitalise their cooperation. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkina Faso Abroad was granted an audience with her Iranian counterpart. The talks focused on a possible rapprochement between Tehran and Ouagadougou.

The head of Burkina Faso’s diplomacy, Olivia Rouamba, and the Iranian ambassador, Mojtaba Faghihi, discussed the dynamics of strengthening ties between Tehran and Ouagadougou.

The two diplomats also discussed the forthcoming holding in Ouagadougou of the first session of the Grand Joint Commission for Cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Hailing the determination of the people of Burkina Faso to fight for their security, Mr Faghi assured the authorities of his country’s support and technical military backing. For her part, Mrs Rouamba expressed Burkina Faso’s gratitude to Iran for its gestures of solidarity and support.
