Burkina-Faso: The president of the transitional legislative assembly makes his first trip abroad.

The President of the Transitional Legislative Assembly, Dr. Ousmane Bougouma, accompanied by a delegation of deputies, made a trip to the Malian capital on Wednesday 14 December for a 72-hour visit. On his arrival at Bamako airport, he was welcomed by his counterpart, the President of the National Transitional Council of Mali, His Excellency Malick Diaw.

For his first official trip, Dr Ousmane Bougma chose Mali to strengthen the ties of friendship between these two peoples who share a common history and geography.

On the menu of this visit, a meeting with the President of Mali, Colonel Assimi Goïta, exchanges with the Burkinabe diaspora, participation in the closing of the parliamentary session of the national council of the transition.

This trip by the head of the transitional parliament comes a few weeks after the brief friendship and working visit made by Captain Ibrahim Traoré to his Malian counterpart.

Captain Traoré held talks with his Malian counterpart, Assimi Goïta, mainly on the issue of the fight against terrorism, which remains a common point for the two border countries.

Before taking his flight to Bamako, Dr. Ousmane Bougma, accompanied by a dozen MPs, stayed yesterday, Tuesday 13 December in Arbinda, a locality located in the Soum province in the Sahel region.

The purpose of this visit, according to the transitional parliament, was to encourage the defence and security forces (FDS) of the mixed detachment as well as the Volunteers for the Defence of the Fatherland (VDP) of this locality.

During this visit of encouragement, the MPs had a meeting with the military command, the men of the detachment and the volunteers for the defence of the country.
