Burkina Faso: Associations Plan to Celebrate the “September 30, 2022 Revolution” Marking Captain Ibrahim TraorĂ©’s Rise to Power

In Burkina Faso, associations are planning a special commemoration to mark the rise to power of their leader, Captain Ibrahim TraorĂ©. Over the past weekend, some members of these associations met with the Prime Minister, Me Apollinaire KyĂ©lèm de Tambèla, to present the initiative for commemorating the first anniversary of the “September 30, 2022 revolution.” According to our information, the members of these associations are planning to commemorate the event on September 30, 2023, at the Issoufou Joseph Conombo Municipal Stadium in Ouagadougou, under the theme: “Year 1 of the September 30, 2022 Revolution.”

Indeed, September 30, 2022, is a crucial date in the history of Burkina Faso, marked by the ascension to power of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the President of the Burkinabe Revolution. On that day, he took charge of the country, liberating many populations from the clutches of terrorists and acts influenced by France.

«We were on the streets on September 30 last year, and we want to commemorate this date with the various associations that support the Transition. This is an opportunity for us to invite young people and leaders of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from countries like Mali, Niger, and Guinea to come. Together, we will commemorate this date in order to assess the Patriotic Movement for Safeguarding and Restoration (MPSR-II) and to propose a memorandum to our respective heads of state», stated Honoré Yonli, the National President of the Union of Emerging Young Economic Operators of Burkina.

In response, the Prime Minister assured the initiators of this special commemoration activities that their desire to have the Transition President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, at the stadium on September 30, 2023, would be conveyed.

If his schedule permits, the President will honor the event with his presence. The Prime Minister also addressed his guests, urging them to become more involved in the governance of the country.

«There are politicians who are here, who have shown their limits and are still here, and who believe that it’s only them. They think that apart from them, there’s nothing, that only they should govern the country. While there are young people here, who are patriots», declared Me Apollinaire KyĂ©lèm de Tambèla.

As the fight for Burkina Faso’s sovereignty is the main goal of President Ibrahim TraorĂ© and his government, the Prime Minister called on association leaders to unite their forces in this worthy struggle.

«We need to take responsibility and be ready to fight for sovereignty. How do you want to live tomorrow? This is the fight we are engaged in, so that people will be proud to be Burkinabe tomorrow. Even if we are poor, we must be dignified. You can be poor but still clean and respectable», he stated.

It’s worth noting that September 30, 2022, marks Captain Ibrahim TraorĂ©’s rise to power following the overthrow of Damiba in a coup.
