Burkina Faso/Security: The Burkinabe National Police force to be further strengthened

The transitional authorities in Burkina Faso are determined to strengthen the effectiveness of the Army and the National Police against terrorism and crime.

Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, significant efforts are being made to increase the operational capabilities of the Army, including the expansion of rapid intervention battalions and the recruitment of new personnel, including Volunteers for the Defense of the Nation.

At the same time, the Ministry of Security has been authorized by the council of ministers on 8th may 2024, to strengthen the National Police.

This authorization allows for the recruitment of 2000 non-commissioned officers through direct professional competitions, in line with the recruitment plan for 2023-2027.

These measures aim to enhance the protection of citizens, property, and state institutions across the Burkinabe territory.
