Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré, guardian of education and inspirer of excellence

President Ibrahim Traoré once again demonstrated his commitment to education by meeting the winners of the 2023 School Excellence Day. The meeting underlined the importance of education in the country’s vision of sustainable development and the President’s determination to transform the education system to meet current needs.

During the meeting, 101 deserving students and the 26 best teachers were congratulated and honoured by the Head of State, showing his appreciation for their academic excellence and dedication to teaching.

 President Ibrahim Traoré took the opportunity to underline the vital role of education in the development of Burkina Faso.

«Education is the key to development», said the President in his speech. He reaffirmed his commitment to breathing new life into the education system to make it more adaptable to the demands of the times.

He also acknowledged the challenges faced by pupils and teachers, particularly due to difficult conditions, and promised to work to improve these conditions.

«You are the stars of Burkina, and I especially want to encourage you to persevere in excellence, even when conditions are difficult. All our fight is to put you in good working conditions so that you can express the best potential in you», he stressed.

The President also called on students to develop patriotism and solidarity, and to encourage their fellow students to achieve excellence.

He insisted on the essential role of young people in building the country’s future, stressing that their intelligence must be accompanied by exemplary discipline: «I invite you to stay the course in your endeavours. I invite you to stay the course in excellence and to encourage healthy emulation among your fellow students», he added.

 President Ibrahim Traoré also called on students to cultivate patriotism and solidarity, and to encourage their fellow students to achieve excellence.

As well as saluting the pupils, the President also paid tribute to the teachers for their commitment and resilience in the face of the country’s complex security situation.

This recognition underlines the importance that the government attaches to the teaching profession and its role in the education of future generations
