Burkina Faso/Preserving the Soul of Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim TraorĂ©’s vision and his Government’s Efforts to Protect and Promote Burkinabe Culture

A significant step was taken in the preservation and promotion of Burkina Faso’s cultural heritage in Ouagadougou, on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023. The Burkinabe Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT) unanimously adopted an important bill for the country, focusing on the protection, preservation, and promotion of cultural heritage.

This action demonstrates the unwavering commitment of President Ibrahim Traoré and his government to the preservation of national identity and the cultural development of Burkina Faso.

The adopted bill holds immense importance for the country of honest people. In the presence of the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, this legislation strengthens the governance of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

The minister emphasized that culture is not merely a form of artistic expression but forms the foundation upon which an entire nation stands.

 By incorporating significant innovations, this law aims to safeguard and promote fundamental elements of national identity, such as arts, traditions, and languages.

One of the essential features of this law is the recognition of the importance of national languages as components of intangible cultural heritage.

These languages play a vital role in the preservation and promotion of Burkinabe culture.

By highlighting this point, Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel OuĂ©draogo acknowledges that Burkina Faso’s linguistic diversity is a strength that must be preserved and celebrated.
