Burkina Faso/Peace efforts: The mid-term assessment of the Patriotic Support Fund is very encouraging

The active mobilization displayed by the people  of Burkina Faso in response to the President’s call to support the fight against terrorism is highly commendable. The Burkinabe Ministry of Economy has released mid-year figures regarding contributions from generous donors.

A total of 74 billion CFA francs has already been mobilized from January to June 10th.

This figure is expected to surpass the government’s target of 100 billion CFA francs for the year 2024, according to the Minister of Economy, Finance, and Prospective.

This amount represents 74% of the forecasted contributions.

There has been a significant improvement in the pace of mobilization compared to the previous year, which recorded 99 billion CFA francs for the fund.

This indicates that the citizens of Burkina Faso understand the importance and are now convinced that only their unwavering support and commitment can help the authorities and combat forces achieve their objectives.

It is worth noting that alongside the support and solidarity of the Burkinabe people, the country’s authorities have also demonstrated good management of these funds, primarily aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the defense and security forces (FDS) and their auxiliaries, the VDP.

Burkinabe citizens continue to make sacrifices to help their country win the war against terrorism.

In the town of Sebba, for example, reports indicate a total mobilization of 430,100 CFA francs by residents to support the former military detachment leader, Lieutenant Ouattara, who was seriously injured at the front after encountering an explosive device.

Radio listeners living in Ouahigouya are also among the generous contributors, helping to bolster the fund’s resources for an even more intense fight against terrorism.
