Burkina Faso: Minister Rouamba is supporting the Mechanism MIPAS

The Mechanism for Prevention and Anticipation of Crises in the Sahel (MIPAS in French), highly represented by Salimata NEBIÉ, received the support of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad. It was on Monday April 17th, 2023, during an audience granted by H.E. Mrs. Olivia ROUAMBA in her ministry in Ouagadougou.

Indeed, MIPAS is an organization that works to prevent security crises around the world, particularly in Sahelian countries.

Thus, this meeting took place between the head of Burkinabe diplomacy and the High Representative of MIPAS, so that the latter could present the objectives of MIPAS to her host and, above all, solicit the support of her department to facilitate the achievement of the institution’s objectives.

According to Madame NEBIÉ, she presented to the Minister the architecture of the mechanism, its ambitions, and the agenda for the next two years.

«The early warning mechanism still has a place in a crisis context because it allows for the mobilization of other actors alongside the States to provide alternative solutions to underlying problems and challenges», emphasized the High Representative of the International Mechanism for the Prevention of crisis in Sahel.

 Concerning Madame Olivia ROUAMBA, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabè Abroad, she expressed her support for the Mechanism for Prevention and Anticipation of Crises in the Sahel (MIPAS).

She acknowledged during the meeting, the MIPAS as a tool for bringing Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger together and strenghening regional cooperation.

Furthermore, she promised to mobilize technical and financial partners to support the MIPAS’s initiatives.
