Burkina Faso: Minister Mahamoudou SANA makes securing the national territory his top priority

In a determined push to secure both urban and rural areas of Burkina Faso, newly appointed Minister of Security, Police Commissioner Mahamoudou Sana, has made safety his primary mission.

Rallying his colleagues and collaborators,  Mahamoudou Sana has emphasized the need for robust cooperation among defense and security forces to achieve comprehensive territorial security.

Sana, formerly the Deputy Minister of Security, ascended to his new role due to his demonstrated patriotism and unwavering commitment.

His predecessor, Emile Zerbo, now oversees Territorial Administration and Mobility.

During Zerbo’s tenure, Sana earned recognition for his effective security measures across Burkina Faso.

Building on his previous successes, Sana plans to enhance his strategies to ensure greater safety throughout the nation.

His agenda includes operationalizing the National Security Strategy, strengthening coordination among internal security forces, and implementing effective prevention policies.

At the official handover ceremony on Tuesday, August 6,  Mahamoudoud Sana called on his colleagues and field units to prepare for high-intensity conflict, underscoring the need for intelligence on the security situation.

He urged them to be proactive, inventive, and pragmatic, and to maintain a strong sense of national unity.

Sana’s message is clear: only through dedicated and firm engagement can the fight against terrorism be won and the integrity of the national territory be fully restored, despite the challenges posed by bush enemies and their allies.
