Burkina Faso/Diplomacy: Ties of cooperation and friendship with the Republic of Serbia revived

Burkina Faso and the Republic of Serbia strengthen their bilateral relations. On the sidelines of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olivia Rouamba, met her Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dacic, on Monday 18 September.

The two diplomats discussed how to strengthen bilateral cooperation between their countries for the benefit of their peoples.

According to the head of Burkina Faso’s diplomatic service, cooperation between Burkina  and the Republic of Serbia, which focuses on security, suffered a setback a few years ago.

According to Minister Olivia Rouamba, the purpose of this meeting was to restore the image between the two countries and, by extension, to find ways and means of consolidating their relations.

Security, humanitarian and development issues in Burkina Faso were among the topics discussed at this diplomatic audience.

Given that the issue of security is a priority for the authorities in Burkina Faso, Serbia is prepared, according to the information given by the diplomat, to welcome a technical delegation from Burkina Faso to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, for discussions on military cooperation between the two countries.

The Republic of Serbia maintains good diplomatic relations with West African countries, which have intensified in recent years.

The concern of the Burkina Faso authorities is to be able to deal effectively with terrorist threats. Any cooperation that is honest, sincere and in good faith is welcome.
