Burkina Faso/Counter-terrorism: The gains are tangible and salutary, contrary to what detractors would have us believe

Over the past nearly two years of Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s leadership in Burkina Faso, the country has made significant strides in combating terrorism and reclaiming its national territory.

Burkinabe citizens residing in the country themselves attest to and commend these achievements.

The trust placed in their authorities, coupled with their support and commitment alongside the transitional government and combat forces, clearly demonstrates that Burkinabe are aware of the commendable work being done.

Critics from outside the country and the Sahel region who suggest that the authorities have failed in their mission often accuse others of plotting and sabotaging their efforts.

It is evident that these individuals may not be well-informed or have overlooked the commendable efforts of the Burkinabe authorities and their fighters, alongside those of the other countries within the AES space.

Thus, it is crucial to refresh their memory. Since assuming power following the events of September 30th, Captain Ibrahim Traoré has focused intensely on intelligence services and the Burkinabe military.

Through strong and sincere partnerships forged with trustworthy and honest individuals, the President of Burkina Faso has transformed the intelligence service into what it is today: capable of monitoring all areas of the country and even beyond Burkina and the Sahel borders.

The military has significantly enhanced its capabilities in military skills, equipment, and combat readiness.

In today’s Burkina Faso, if people are unaware or pretend not to see or hear, fear has shifted sides.

Terrorists, who are seen as allies of imperialists, no longer boast victories over the Burkinabe army as they once did when foreign forces were still on Burkinabe soil, often accused of plundering mineral resources.

This progress includes reclaimed localities and populations resettled in their communities.

The list of achievements in counterterrorism and national territory reclamation is extensive, and Burkinabe themselves are fully aware of these accomplishments.

They continue their peaceful struggle alongside their leaders and patriots for their liberation and complete sovereignty.
