Burkina Faso/Counter-terrorism: Do the determination and resilience of Burkina Faso’s people inspire solidarity?
In a show of solidarity, the Senegalese authorities have officially expressed their support for Burkina Faso in its fight against terrorism. This sentiment has been echoed by several other nations across the continent and beyond, which have rallied around the Burkinabe people in their quest for freedom and sovereignty.
This level of international backing contrasts sharply with the isolation experienced since the onset of the transition led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
According to Senegalese pan-Africanist Thierno B. Sow, it is essential to acknowledge the unwavering determination of the Burkinabe government and its citizens in their mission to reclaim their national territory and eradicate terrorism from the country and the Sahel region.
Recently, the President of Burkina Faso reaffirmed his government’s commitment, along with the fighting forces, to combat this destructive scourge.
During a direct exchange with the nation on national radio, he stated, “The enemies will be fought until they raise the white flag, and those who have looted the country will be held accountable.” He emphasized that there will be no concessions made regarding the territory of Burkina Faso, which must remain protected from lawless criminals and their accomplices.
Sow noted that the determination exhibited by the Burkinabe authorities, supported by their fellow citizens, not only leads to tangible successes on the battlefield but also inspires admiration and solidarity from other nations.
He asserted that the Burkinabe people, alongside others from the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), have demonstrated their resolve and ability to confront security threats when it comes to their sovereignty and freedom.
The envoy of the Senegalese president declared, “There is no other future for us than this march toward progress and the desire for the emancipation of African peoples.” He emphasized the urgent need for unified action and collaboration among nations to effectively meet the aspirations of their citizens.
