Burkina Faso: Captain Ibrahim Traoré, promises means for better military logistics.

Security remains the top priority in Burkina Faso as the country has been engaged in the fight against terrorism since 2015. In front of the nation and alongside his brothers in arms on 31 December 2022, the President of the Burkinabe transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, promised means for better military logistics, new road infrastructure and announced a tactical repositioning and new strategy against a backdrop of modernisation and digitalisation to be implemented soon.

For his first speech of the end of the year, Captain Ibrahim Traoré praised the recent efforts of the defence and security forces in the fight against terrorism. While he recently instructed the recruitment of thousands of Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland, the President of the transition Ibrahim Traoré announced the training of these, but especially more logistical means and road infrastructure, necessary elements for good military performance.

A speech delivered in the town of Solenzo, recently recaptured from the terrorists and which symbolises the success of the military operation Feleho, otherwise “take back your property”, launched on 1 December 2022. Above all, he called for unwavering cohesion behind the defence forces.

“Today, we are here to share these moments with our brothers in arms and encourage them to go forward in this struggle. Encouraging them means that they have to find the courage to continue. And where to look for this courage? I would say to all the fighters in this country, that the courage, they will have it where they are implanted; everywhere, in the villages where they will pass, they can look in the eyes of the children who bless them. These blessings are an inexhaustible source of courage that they must seek to continue this war because these populations, their only hope for life, are these fighters.”

“There will be a framework of consultation that the Prime Minister will soon launch, for the refoundation of the Nation. We must totally reform our system of governance.

To ensure total transparency in the management of the fund, the government plans to create a website for the publication of all information on a continuous basis on the collection and expenditure, and the establishment of a fund management committee.

The judiciary and auditors have been given carte blanche to start leading the fight against corruption and this can already be felt on the ground. I encourage them to continue the work and be able to help us change our system of governance.”
