Burkina Faso/Bilateral Cooperation: Serbia aims to strengthen economic relations with Ouagadougou

Held under the theme «Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability», the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly has been taking place in New York since September 16. As part of this event, the Burkinabe Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA, received Ivica DAVIÇ, the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia in an audience on Monday, September 18, 2023.

The discussions primarily focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in the areas of agriculture, security, and industry.

The Serbian Minister, highlighting the relations between Burkina Faso and Serbia, expressed his willingness to work towards enhancing cooperation in various fields.

In this context, he formally invited the Minister to visit his country with Burkinabe experts.

He also expressed the desire to see stronger relations between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and that of Burkina Faso.

In response to all these requests, the Minister, while thanking her counterpart for the invitation, expressed her delight at the prospects of cooperation in the fields of security, agriculture, and industry.

She provided an update on the national situation in Burkina Faso, emphasizing the government’s needs and expectations.

She pointed out to her counterpart that Burkina Faso is an agricultural country and that the Transitional President aspires to implement an extensive program in this area to address youth unemployment and ensure food security.
