BURKINA-FASO: 2024 WOMEN’S AFCON QUALIFIERS – The “Stallions” Ladies beat Eswatini

On Wednesday, September 20, the Burkina Faso women’s football team secured a 3-2 victory over Eswatini on their home turf in the first leg of the 2024 Women’s AFCON qualifiers in Morocco.

The “Stallions” ladies emerged victorious on Wednesday in a match held at the Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba, Eswatini’s royal capital.

This encounter marked the first leg of the qualifiers for the 2024 Women’s AFCON in Morocco.

Burkina Faso took the lead 17 minutes into the game with a goal from forward Balkissa Sawadogo, making it 1-0 for Burkina Faso.

Just two minutes later, Rasmata Sawadogo added a second goal in the 9th minute, doubling their lead.

The third Burkinabé goal was scored by Mouniratou Compaoré at the 32nd minute, making it 3-0 at halftime.

Eswatini’s team came alive in the second half, managing to reduce the deficit with two goals.

They found the net at the 42nd minute and again in injury time (92nd minute).

Despite the home team’s comeback attempts, Pascal Sawadogo’s team held onto their lead until the end of the match, securing a final score of 3-2 in favor of Burkina Faso.

The return match is scheduled for September 26 at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

This presents another opportunity for the “Stallions” Ladies to give their all in pursuit of qualification for next year’s continental tournament in Morocco.
