Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni strengthen bilateral ties

Rome, Italy – On Friday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni following the conclusion of the G7 working sessions.

The two leaders expressed mutual satisfaction with the robust state of their bilateral relations, particularly in the economic sector, where exchanges in energy, agriculture, and industry continue to flourish.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to the Mattei Plan for Africa, focusing on the development of agriculture and professional training.

The Plan Mattei includes a significant project for sustainable agriculture that is currently being finalized.

This project involves an Italian agro-industrial group and aims to develop approximately 36,000 hectares of land in Algeria.

This initiative represents the largest investment in sustainable agriculture by Italy in the southern Mediterranean region.

In addition, Tebboune and Meloni discussed their shared dedication to the Rome Process on migration and development, highlighting their collaborative efforts to address these critical issues.

The meeting underscored the ongoing advancement of bilateral projects and the continued strengthening of economic ties between Algeria and Italy, paving the way for future cooperation and mutual growth.
