Africa: The inaugural 2024 conference of road and transport stakeholders in Africa is being held from 17 to 21 April

The 9th edition of the inaugural conference for stakeholders in road and transport in Africa is set to take place in Dubai from April 17 to 21, focusing on the theme «Quality of Road Infrastructure and Development in Africa». The event will bring together decision-makers, project managers, financiers, operators, and journalists from all regions of Africa.Organized by The Africa Road Builders, this edition introduces several categories for the «Builder’s Trophy», highlighting outstanding achievements of individuals involved in successful road projects across Africa, from conception to operation, encompassing financing and project management.

The highlight of this edition will be the «Super Grand Builder Award – Babacar NDIAYE Trophy 2024», to be presented to the African Head of State whose country has demonstrated success in line with the theme of the year.

The laureate, succeeding His Excellency Andry RAJOELINA, the 2023 awardee, will be chosen by a Selection Committee comprising African journalists.

The official presentation of the Builder’s Trophies, including the Super Grand Builder Award, will take place during the Final Conference at the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in May 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Additionally, the General Commissioner plans to bestow a Special Award in recognition of the United Arab Emirates’ highest authorities’ achievements in road and transport infrastructure.

The overarching goal is for this Inaugural Conference to serve as a source of inspiration, contributing effectively to Africa’s development and highlighting the developmental symbolism represented by Dubai and the United Arab Emirates in the field of road infrastructure.

Established in 2016 and inspired by the 5th President of the AfDB, Dr. Babacar Ndiaye, The Africa Road Builders-Trophée Babacar Ndiaye event continues to enjoy the sponsorship of the AfDB and its President, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina.
