AFCON 2027/ good news for Senegal from the Algerian press

The organization of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2027) brings excellent news for Senegal, as reported by the Algerian press. Thirty-five years after hosting the CAN in 1992, Senegal is preparing to be the host country for this major competition for the second time in its history.

This information comes from Algerian journalist Sofiane Mehenni, who cites his colleague from El Watan, Yazid Ouahib.

According to the source, as reported by L’Observateur, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has made this decision while also in the process of designating Morocco as the host country for the 2025 edition of the CAN.

The CAF’s verdict regarding the allocation of the organization of the next two AFCON editions will be announced on September 12 in Abidjan.

This announcement will take place alongside the draw for the 2023 CAN, scheduled for the following year in Ivory Coast.

Senegal is in competition with other countries such as Egypt, Algeria, Botswana, as well as the trio of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania for hosting the AFCON 2027.
