AFCON 2023: Coach Regragui shows respect for All opponents

The draw for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations was conducted in Abidjan, the host country for this edition. Morocco found itself in Group F, alongside DR Congo, Zambia, and Tanzania. While some consider the draw favorable, Morocco’s head coach, Walid Regragui, emphasizes the importance of respecting all opponents.

«We respect all the teams. No team is easy, and no group is simple», he stated.

Regragui points out that they will face two teams, Zambia and Tanzania, that were also in their 2026 World Cup qualifying group.

He stressed that being prepared is crucial as they enter the competition, knowing their opponents.

Regragui sees Morocco’s group as balanced and challenging. He acknowledges that their goal is to go far in this tournament, just like everyone else.

They approach the competition with respect for African football, emphasizing that success hinges on details and team spirit.

Morocco’s national team will play its group stage matches in San-PĂ©dro, located 350 km from Abidjan.

Their first match in this AFCON 2023  is against Tanzania on January 17 at 18:00, followed by DR Congo on January 21 at 15:00 and Zambia on January 24 at 21:00.
