AES/Technology Confederation: Setting up satellites, advice and guidance from President Assimi GOÏTA

In their ongoing pursuit of full sovereignty, the authorities of the AES Confederation, alongside their strategic partners, are advancing a range of innovative projects.

One of the most ambitious initiatives currently in development is a satellite program, aimed at significantly enhancing the region’s technological capabilities.

With the support of Russian partners, the AES member states are preparing to launch two satellites—one focused on telecommunications and the other dedicated to remote Earth observation.

Key stakeholders in this initiative recently convened in Bamako to lay the groundwork for the project’s implementation. On September 23, they were received by Colonel Assimi Goïta, Mali’s transitional president and current chair of the AES Confederation.

During the meeting, Goïta emphasized the urgent need to rapidly develop local technical expertise, ensuring that these satellite infrastructures can be autonomously managed by the confederation’s states.

Colonel Goïta reiterated his strong support for the project, asserting that the Sahel nations are turning to cutting-edge technology to tackle modern challenges.

According to experts, the satellite program will not only address critical security issues by enhancing border surveillance but will also boost economic growth across the region through the application of space technologies.

By committing to this ambitious project, the AES Confederation is making a strategic shift toward greater self-reliance, leveraging advanced technological solutions to secure both its economic future and regional stability.

This initiative signals a new era of innovation and cooperation, placing the confederation on a path toward long-term autonomy and development.
