French athletes shine on second day of Paris 2024 Olympics, adding four medals

The second day of the Paris 2024 Olympics concluded triumphantly for the French delegation, adding four new medals to their tally—two golds, one silver, and one bronze—following a successful opening day.

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and Léon Marchand were the stars of the day, both clinching gold medals.

Ferrand-Prévot, a mountain biking legend with one of the most decorated careers in French sports, finally broke her Olympic curse by securing the coveted title that had eluded her.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old swimmer Marchand continued to make history, adding to his already impressive accolades and setting his sights on further achievements.

Judo also contributed to France’s medal haul, with Amandine Buchard earning a bronze medal.

The judoka from Noisy-le-Sec triumphed in a tense and exhausting “petite finale,” claiming victory in the “golden time” period.

Rounding off the day, Yannick Borel captured a silver medal in épée.

Despite a disappointing final, the 35-year-old fencer from Guadeloupe can take pride in securing the only individual medal missing from his collection.

As the Paris 2024 Olympics progress, the French team’s strong performance continues to inspire, with hopes high for further successes in the coming days.
