Mali/Politics: A clear commitment by the authorities to the culture of peace and social cohesion

Driven by a commitment to peace, stability, and social cohesion for sustainable and harmonious development, Mali’s transitional authorities are making significant efforts to achieve their goals.

In line with these efforts, the Malian government made a pivotal decision on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, during a Council of Ministers meeting.

The government decided to lift the suspension imposed in April 2024 on the activities of political parties and the political activities of associations.

This suspension had been implemented due to security concerns and the need to maintain public order amidst the numerous challenges the country faced, both in terms of security and the political and social climate.

To better implement the recommendations from the Inter-Malian Dialogue for Peace and National Reconciliation, the government adopted a decree lifting the suspension on political parties and associations’ political activities.

With this decree, these activities can now resume across Mali, thereby fostering social cohesion and unity among Malians, which are crucial for peace and stability.
