Erik Ten Hag remains at Manchester United with contract extension

Despite a challenging 2023-2024 season, Erik Ten Hag has secured his future at Manchester United, extending his contract until June 2026.

Initially expected to leave after finishing 8th in the Premier League, Ten Hag earned the club’s confidence with a victory in the FA Cup.

The club officially announced the extension on Thursday.

Expressing his satisfaction, Ten Hag remarked on the club’s progress over the past two years, highlighting two trophy wins and notable improvements since his arrival.

He acknowledged the significant work ahead to meet Manchester United’s high standards, which include competing for English and European titles.

He emphasized a shared vision with the club’s leadership to achieve these goals.

With his future settled, Ten Hag’s focus now shifts to strengthening the squad for the upcoming season.

Manchester United has reportedly targeted Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt, with an initial offer of €40 million made to Bayern Munich, who are holding out for €50 million. Negotiations are expected to continue in the coming days.
