Togo : A new form of cooperation is born between Lomé and Freetown

The consolidation of cooperation and the strengthening of economic exchanges between Togo and Sierra Leone, discussed with Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio during a regional meeting in Lomé, is further realized with the visit of Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh.

During an audience with Togo’s Prime Minister Victoire Dogbé, the Sierra Leonean minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to enhancing and deepening partnership with Togo.

Prime Minister Victoire Dogbé and her Sierra Leonean counterpart agreed to expand their commercial exchanges and encourage beneficial investment flows for their states. According to discussions between the two leaders, the focus is on intensifying cooperation in the areas of financial inclusion, digitization, and youth employment.

In Togo, these aforementioned areas are gaining momentum thanks to the policies implemented by President Faure Gnassingbé. In line with the government’s roadmap, the Togolese government, under the president’s instruction, has intensified efforts in financial inclusion through the National Fund for Inclusive Finance (FNFI).

The youth employment sector is also not overlooked. This sector, which is a priority for the president, has received a boost in recent years with the entrepreneurship policy developed by the state. This policy involved financing projects for young entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Additionally, the improvement of the business environment through economic reforms has facilitated self-employment among young people, thereby addressing the issue of youth unemployment in Togo.

In summary, the Togolese government has made youth employment and financial inclusion its battle cry for the growth of its economy and the sustainable development of the country.
