Togo: President Faure Gnassingbé on the lookout for Win-Win cooperation opportunities for the sustainable development of his country

During his trip to Seoul for the inaugural Korea-Africa Summit, Togolese President S.E.M. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé seized the opportunity to engage with several influential figures in South Korea’s economic, financial, and business sectors. His goal was to bolster and diversify cooperation between Togo and South Korea.

President Faure Gnassingbé held discussions with the president of the Korean National Agricultural Development Authority to explore Togo’s potential membership in the Korea-Africa Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative (KAFACI).

This move would enable Togo to receive technical assistance, particularly in enhancing its rice sector.

A team from KAFACI is expected to visit Togo soon to finalize the details of this partnership.

In addition, President Faure Gnassingbé had fruitful exchanges with the president of the Korea-Africa Foundation and the president of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

These discussions paved the way for potential investments in Togo across various sectors, including digital economy development, customs system improvement, public procurement processes, and healthcare system reinforcement.

Environmental sustainability and climate resilience were also key focal points. President Faure Gnassingbé met with representatives from the Green Climate Fund and the Korean company SEJIN G&E.

The discussions centered on supporting Togo’s governmental initiatives to enhance its resilience against climate change, improve environmental sanitation practices, and convert waste into valuable biogas resources.

By fostering these meetings and discussions, President Faure Gnassingbé underscored his commitment to actively seek mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities vital for Togo’s sustainable development agenda.
